Financial Reporting Manager

Remote CPA is seeking a motivated, US-based CPA with an active license who has advanced experience preparing Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Statements of Cash Flow. This person will be responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of client financial reports on a monthly basis. You should have experience with client service and be comfortable working directly with them on an ongoing basis without supervision. Other responsibilities include:
 

• Working with a small, decentralized team

• Identifying and correcting common mistakes across a variety of systems such as QuickBooks Online, Airtable, and Bill.com

• Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online

• Strong interest in the home building industry

• Ability to work cross-culturally with members of an offshore team

• Social media engagement to build our Remote CPA brand as experts for homebuilders who use BuilderTrend

• Hosting virtual client meetings, most of which are in the Eastern US time zone

• Long term goals for this person include developing an in-depth knowledge of each of our clients in order to forecast both Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts, even those that may touch tax liabilities. 
   

While the work is almost entirely remote, there are several times per year that may require travel to conferences and/or team retreats. Some of this travel could include locations to our offshore team in the Philippines. 

 

Working for a small firm like Remote CPA, be prepared to wear multiple hats and jump in wherever needed, even some tasks that might be outside the scope of the job description. We are looking for someone who has fun with this and enjoys seeing an extremely holistic view of a client’s business, which is beyond just accounting. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of financial reporting, you may be asked to assist in business development as our firm grows. This role will be highly visible to clients and it is expected that you will be comfortable making weekly videos to be used on our website, YouTube channel, social media, newsletters, and other places. Bonus for having an advanced work from home setup with aesthetically pleasing video backgrounds. Our clients want to hear your thoughts about accounting and how it benefits them as homebuilders!

 

Required skills include:

• 4 year degree from an accredited college or university with 150 credit hours

• At least two years of public accounting experience is preferred, especially in roles that are client facing (could be in tax or attestation services)

• Experience with BuilderTrend is a huge plus 

• Advanced communication and email skills are critical

• Advanced time management skills and ability to independently identify top priorities in order to take immediate action

• A strong interest in monitoring our own profitability here at Remote CPA on a client-by-client basis to ensure firm sustainability

• Basic knowledge of of US tax code for businesses, individuals, and payroll

• Advanced knowledge of cloud based apps, such as our workflow management and client portal, Keeper.app

• A desire to be on the cutting edge of new technologies, such as ChatGPT

• Advanced knowledge of Google Workspace and all of its apps such as Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive, and especially Google Calendar

• Bonus if you are an advanced user of Calendly and Missive

 

Remote CPA is a small, but growing firm. We have no timeline for hiring this candidate, we would rather wait for the proper fit. In order to get started, we would like to do a one week paid trial period during which we try working together in a real world environment to see if we are a good fit. This position could be available on an internship or monthly basis so we can mutually get to know each other. Be prepared to be pushed for growth faster than you would at a large organization. You will be praised for your positive contributions, but you will also need to be open to constructive feedback. This will build invaluable skills you wouldn't otherwise acquire in a bureaucratic organization. While we are small, we have high ambitions of offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
